Join BCAN |
What happens when I apply to join BCAN?You will be contacted by the BCAN Co-ordinator who will check additional details and may arrange to visit you.
If we are satisfied that you are eligible for membership, a short report will be circulated to Brent Advice Partnership* which is responsible for BCAN. Within the next two weeks your membership should be confirmed. The next step will be to assess what measures you might want to take to strengthen and develop your organisation and its sustainability. These are tough times for the community and voluntary sectors, but we will talk to you about how the challenges your organisation faces might be addressed. For some, we may be able to offer free training, or a path to follow which will take you towards formal recognition through accreditation. In most cases we will work with you on a Development Plan for the coming year or more, and will provide support to help you to put your Development Plan into practice. We can provide limited support from a professional consultant. If you require more than this, you may be able to apply to the Brent Advice Fund (which is only available to BCAN members), to cover the additional external help that you need. At an appropriate point, we may conduct a Peer Review. This will involve a check on the advice and information that you provide, by an expert in your area of advice, so that they can verify that the advice and information you provide is accurate and that you know how to recognise when people need to be referred to a specialist agency for more details legal advice and representation. If your service need to be improved, we should explain the ways you can achieve this. If you require further information before submitting an application, do get in touch Tel. 020 3002 2789. |
